At NerBreen, we develop turnkey fish and vegetable cultivation solutions which fuse the latest technology with natural biological processes to achieve systems which are energy-efficient and sustainable. We place particular emphasis on managing water and energy efficiently and sustainably, as well as on the formulation and ingredients of the foods we use.

The NerBreen production system can cultivate fish, lettuces, tomatoes, strawberries and more. It is 100% sustainable and makes continual reuse of water with no discharges into the environment.

Production systems


In fish cultivation, as the fish grow and an increasing amount of food is provided, the organic load in the system (mainly nitrogen compounds such as ammonium NH 4 ) accumulate in the water and can be dangerous to the fish, even causing death.

In traditional open systems, the water is renewed constantly to remove these nitrogen compounds. However, there are many limitations to this kind of system as well as high energy costs, and they are not ecologically sustainable.

To achieve sustainability, at NerBreen we’ve developed a recirculation production system using different biological filters which purify the water. Up to 100% of the nitrogen compounds are removed to obtain the ideal water quality for cultivating fish without wasting a single drop of water, and without the need for organic discharges which pollute the environment.

Engineering solutions


At NerBreen we have qualified staff who develop tailored projects and look after our clients’ needs from investment, market study, sizing of installations, construction and launch through to training, monitoring, biological and production guidance, etc. Although the overall concept is always the same, each cultivation installation is different based on external factors which may affect the system’s design, size and production. These include geographical location, annual rainfall, average annual temperature, the surrounding landforms, the level of automation, and the selection of aquaculture and vegetable species. Many processes within the system can be automated.
